Received this question from MJ:
I do not like to have too many credit cards to open and close just for the bonus miles. If I only want one or two credit cards, what do you recommend?
Chase Freedom Card
Chase Freedom card is one of the card that I keep for my daily use. Every quarter has 5% categories that you can earn up to $1500 spending per quarter. If you take the full benefit of 5% in each quarter’s categories, you should earn 30,000 Ultimate Rewards plus unlimited 1% on other spending.
For new card, the highest bonus offer that I saw for Chase Freedom card was $300 and do not apply if the bonus offer is only $100 or $150. Usually $200 bonus offer for new card is very common and appears a lot. You might not get the highest bonus offer, but be patient and wait for a good offer, like $200.
Chase Ink Plus Business Card
If you have a business, you should consider Chase Ink Plus Business card as well. By having Chase Ink Plus card, you can combine your cash back Ultimate Rewards from Chase Freedom card into travel award Ultimate Rewards at Chase Ink Plus Business card and transfer the Ultimate Rewards to participate partner airlines royalty program.
For new card, the highest bonus offer that I saw for Chase Ink Plus Business card was 70,000 ultimate rewards and do not apply if the bonus offer is only 40,000 ultimate rewards. Usually they have 50,000 ultimate rewards with first year annual fee waived or 60,000 ultimate rewards with first year annual fee not waived bonus offer for new card.
What do I have? I have both.
