Wat Rong Khun and Golden Triangle in Chiang Rai, Thailand

White Temple

White Temple

Wat Rong Khun is also known as White Temple.  It is a privately owned Buddhist temple in Chiang Rai Province, Thailand.  It opened to visitors in 1997.  It is open all year round and admission is FREE.  It closes for lunch from 12 noon to 1p.m. every day.

We were in Chiang Mai, which were 4 hours away from Chiang Rai.  This is a place that we highly recommend to everyone.  It is the most impressive temple that I ever saw. We arrived at 10 minutes to noon, so we decided to eat at the cafeteria first before we spent time to enjoy the White Temple.

There is a gold building on your right side after you exit White Temple.  I saw people in and out of the building and really wonder what was inside the building.  It is stalls of woman and man restrooms.

One remark of my experience in cafeteria:  Hainan Chicken over rice is very famous and popular in Thailand.  The best Hainan Chicken that I tasted in my trip was in the cafeteria of White Temple.

Golden Triangle

We suggest to visit Golden Triangle as well since you are in the same area.  Golden Triangle is an area of 950,000 square kilometers that  overlaps the mountains of three countries: Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar.
